Q1: What is FAST?
FAST is the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). The faculty focuses on applied sciences and technology-driven education to prepare students for careers in industry, research, and innovation.

Q2: Where is FAST located?
FAST is based at UTHM Pagoh Campus, Johor, Malaysia.

Q3: What makes FAST unique compared to other faculties?
FAST combines scientific knowledge with technological applications. Our programs are designed with industry collaboration, practical training, and research exposure to ensure graduates are ready for the workforce and future challenges.


Academic Programs

Q4: What undergraduate programs are offered at FAST?
FAST currently offers seven undergraduate programs:

  1. Bachelor of Science (Applied Physics) with Honours

  2. Bachelor of Science (Mathematics Technology) with Honours

  3. Bachelor of Science (Industrial Statistics) with Honours

  4. Bachelor of Science (Computational Data Analytics) with Honours

  5. Bachelor of Science (Food Technology) with Honours

  6. Bachelor of Science (Biodiversity and Conservation) with Honours

  7. Bachelor of Science Industrial Chemistry with Honours

and an upcoming Bachelor of Technology in Semiconductor Fabrication Manufacturing in 2026

Q5: Does FAST offer postgraduate studies?
Yes. Postgraduate opportunities (Master’s and PhD) are available in areas such as applied physics, food technology, biodiversity, and materials science. Find more details HERE>

Q6: What is the language of instruction?
Most courses are taught in English, with some courses conducted in Bahasa Malaysia where relevant.


Admission & Requirements

Q7: How can I apply to FAST programs?
Applications are via the UPU online by Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) portal. International students may apply directly through the UTHM International Office or through this link.

Q8: What are the entry requirements?
Requirements vary by program, but generally include:

  • Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), Matriculation, Diploma, or equivalent qualifications.

  • Specific subject prerequisites (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Biology, or Chemistry depending on the program).

Q9: Are there opportunities for credit transfer?
Yes. Students with relevant diploma qualifications may be eligible for credit transfer upon faculty evaluation.
