BSc Food Technology students and lecturers from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) joined hands with the BS Food Innovation and Technology cohort from Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO) in the Philippines for a rewarding short-term mobility program on Tawi-Tawi Island. This program, centered around the Sustainable Development Goal “Zero Hunger,” aimed to foster innovations in responsible consumption and production.
UTHM was represented by 2nd and 3rd-year BSc Food Technology students, Iridina Izzati Yusri and Nur Antasya Balkis Badrolhisham. They were joined by the Head of the Food Technology Program, Dr. Nur Hafizah Malik, as well as Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Norazlin Abdullah, Head of the Department of Technology and Natural Resources, and Dr. Fazleen Izzany Abu Bakar, Head of the AdHerb Focus Group, who participated as invited lecturers and speakers.
Over the three-day program, participants engaged in in-depth theoretical and practical sessions covering various aspects of food technology. These sessions were designed to equip students with valuable knowledge and skills, particularly in food processing and preservation, the use of additives in food products, new food product development, and the dynamics of halal food processing.
The international exchange concluded with cultural exchange and tourism activities, deepening participants’ understanding of each other’s cultures and fostering international collaboration. This event marked a meaningful step toward strengthening international ties and advancing sustainable food solutions through cross-border cooperation.
