Bachelor of Science (Food Technology) with Honours           

This is a minimum 4-year full-time program (8 semesters) with 135 total credits offered comprises both core and elective courses. This program owns approach in accordance with the concept of outcome-based education including experiential learning, problem-based learning, project-oriented problem-based learning, case study, lecture and practical. The curriculum has been designed to adapt to the current scenario and provide a balance between the principles and food technology applications for teaching and learning. This program combines various fundamental concepts and gives knowledge and understanding in improving and maintaining food quality from farm to fork, which can be applied in the future careers with the ethical manner in providing consumers with high quality, safe and nutritious food through technology and innovation. This program also has its own niche such as Snack and Confectionery Product Technology, Functional Food and Nutraceutical, Oil and Fat Technology, and Bakery Product Technology to fulfill the food industry demands. Graduates of this program have great potentials to be employed or self-employed in various food industries or private sectors and relevant fields including research institutions and government agencies.

Cell Biology, Microbiology, Introduction to Food Science and Technology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, Food Microbiology, Physical Properties of Food, Organic Chemistry, Food Chemistry and Biochemistry, Food Analysis, Postharvest Technology, Food Engineering, Statistics for Technology, Nutrition, Halal Food, Food Instrumentation, Food Processing and Preservation Technology, Unit Operations in Food Processing, Food Packaging Technology, Bakery Product Technology, Oil and Fat Technology, Functional Food and Nutraceutical, Sensory Evaluation of Food, Snack and Confectionery Product Technology, Food Science and Technology Seminar, Food Waste Management, Food Safety and Quality Assurance, Food Law and Regulation, Bachelor Degree Project I, Bachelor Degree Project II, Food Product Management and Marketing, Food Product Development, Industrial Training.

  • Food Additive and Ingredient, Community Nutrition, Nutrition in the Life Cycle, Food Biotechnology, Food Enzyme Technology, Milk and Dairy Products Technology, Meat and Poultry Products Technology, Freshwater and Marine Products Technology, Beverage Technology, Fruit and Vegetable Products Technology, Cereal and Legume Processing Technology.

Entry Requirements: 

  1. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C (2.00) pada peringkat Matrikulasi dalam Mathematics dan Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology, Atau
  2. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C (2.00) pada peringkat Matrikulasi dalam Mathematics dan Engineering Physics/Engineering Chemistry/ Civil Engineering Studies/ Electrical Engineering Studies/ Mechanical Engineering Studies, Atau
  3. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C (2.00) pada peringkat STPM dalam mata pelajaran Mathematics T/ Further Mathematics T; dan Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology, Atau
  4. Memiliki kelayakan Diploma Sains/ Diploma Sains Gunaan/ Diploma berkaitan atau kelulusan lain dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Purata Matanilai Himpunan (CPA/PNGK) 2.50 dari mana-mana Institusi Pendidikan Tinggi Awam (IPTA) atau Politeknik atau kelulusan yang diiktiraf setaraf dengannya oleh Kerajaan Malaysia dan diluluskan oleh Senat IPTA, Atau calon yang tidak memenuhi syarat CPA/PNGK 2.50 tetapi mempunyai pengalaman bekerja sekurang-kurangnya 2 tahun dalam bidang berkaitan boleh dipertimbangkan.

Nota:

* Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred E pada peringkat SPM dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggerís dan calon tidak rabun dan tidak cacat anggota (buta/pekak/lumpuh/bisu) yang menyukarkan kerja amali.

** Lepasan Diploma boleh dipertimbangkan untuk pengecualian kredit mengikut kelulusan mata pelajaran dan bidang yang diikuti.

Tuition Fees: 

  • Local Student: MYR700 / semester
  • International Student: MYR 3000 / semester
